I currently chose to live my life centered around God. To me the most important thing is focusing on God trusting his plans he has for you. Having "margin" in your life is also very important. The word margin in the dictionary is defined as the amount of space available beyond what you are given. For me this is a very critical element to life. We tend to overload ourselves with lists and business which always leads to stress and anxiety. It is important to set aside time to where it is just you and God together. Using your margin wisely could be more than just reading your bible or speaking with God. Sometimes, it is most important to just sit there in silence and let God know that you are listening to him!
In Philippians 4:6 it states "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." When I tend to get busy and become stressed out and anxious, this verse always reminds me that if I fully trust God, I should not be anxious and should not be in worry.
In the future, I plan to use my gifts and talents in a way that will glorify God. First, I need to discover those talents that God has given me so that I can use them to glorify Him. My plan is to get into cancer research after graduating. Cancer runs in the family and I would like to help out in anyway I can to find the cure for cancer. This will be the way I could use my skills to help reach those who are in pain and suffering because of this disease.

Experience in Education
If I had to write about one specific experience that significantly influenced my education, I would have to write about my high school Literature teacher, Mr. Hughes. To me he was more than just a teacher, he was also my coach for track and field; most importantly he was a big influence in my life.
My dream as a freshman was to attend Stanford University to become an anesthesiologist. Yes, as a freshman, I did have crazy dreams and high expectations of myself. Mr. Hughes would classify me as a “dreamer.” Each and every day I would come to him with a new dream that I would want to achieve. “Mr. Hughes, I want to travel the world to practice medicine and help those who do not have the supplies for healthcare.” “Mr. Hughes, I want to be part of the research for cancer to help those who are diagnosed with cancer live a longer and happier life.” Anything else that consisted of helping and caring for others were part of my dreams.
One day Mr. Hughes asked me if I had ever thought about being a nurse, for the nurse is the person who tends to all the patients’ needs and comforts them in times of trouble. My first response was absolutely not! I saw nurses as those who did all the dirty work and had no fun. I wanted a job that had new experiences every day; I loved never knowing what was going to come my way because I loved a new challenge every day.
Mr. Hughes taught me to follow my heart and to not let anyone or anything get in my way of achieving my dreams. Now in college, I am pursuing my dream of getting my bachelor’s degree in nursing, later going to CRNA (nurse anesthetist) school, and then getting into research and finding cures for diseases. However, as Mr. Hughes would say, my dreams may change because after all I am a dreamer. Who knows! Maybe I will do nursing missions in Africa….I think I will add that to my list of dreams. For now, I will put everything in God’s hands, for he is the one who directs my path.

Paulo Friere's Banking Concept of Education
1. Paulo defines narration sickness where the teacher stands in front of the classroom as if they were motionless, static, and predictable. Their task is to fill the students with the contents of his narration instead of actually teaching them the concepts.
2. Narration sickness mimics No Child Left Behind by almost expecting the students to recall their knowledge every time they take one of the standardized tests. They are demonstrating that every student only records and memorizes the phrases like 2+2=4 or the capital of South Dakota is Pierre. This makes it to where the student doesnt actualy actually know what each question fully means.
3. A teacher that demonstrated banking eduacation would have to be my Microbiology teacher here at USF. I have him this semester and all he really does is talk to us as if we were below and not as intelligent as he is. If we don't understand a certain concept that he has explained and we ask him to explain it more, he just looks at us and says its not that hard of a concept, and then explains it again. I don't think he intentionally thries to look down upon us, but he really likes to make us feel like we are dumb students who will never measure up to his standards.
Sometimes I feel as if his teaching techniques would never help us, but when I think about it...they actually do. He is really pushing us to our full potential and is really challenging us to think out of the box. However, he does tend to expect too much from us, which is quite overwhelming for us to comprehend.
4. An excellent teacher that I had in high school would have to be Mr. Kevin Steckler. He was my government teacher my senior year, history teacher my junior year, and my geography teacher my freshman year in high school. Being a history class, he really knew how to keep us engaged in our learning. He loved to do class projects or class games that would help enhance our learning capabilities. One time in geography, he actually had people circle around a table with someone standing on the table and we would have to pick up the table and shake it to demonstrate what it would be like during an earthquake. As dangerous as this sounds, it helped us to really get a feeling for how dangerous it is during an earthquake. I will forever remember him flying off the table, screaming, and landing straight on his butt.
Another technique he used was to demonstrate what it was like for soldiers to crawl through dense rain forests during a time in the war. We piled up all the desks in the room as a mountain and he had us crawl through the desks with the lights off. He would also spray people with water with a spray bottle to get the effect of a rain forest. We were also very luck to experience trench warfare during world war two. We were allowed to bring anything and everything and we could throw everything we wanted. Lets just say that things broke and there were some unintentional black eyes from flying shoes.
All of Mr. Stecklers techniques really helped us to learn what it was like in those experiences. It also helped us to remember the information by relating it to stories he would tell or games that we would play.
5. I think the Visigoths would embrace and practice this type of education in the classroom. I think that my Microbiology class would definatly benefit from more dialogue in the classroom. Our teacher allows questions, but I feel that if he allowed us to communicate and voice our thoughts more openly that it would help us to understand his information better. Being able to discuss how each process works for exapmple chemotaxis, flagella movement, and the production of ATP helps us to better understand and comprehend theses processes.

Clergymen's Letter and Civil Rights Movement
(1.) Passive resistance is the opposition to a government or to specific governmental laws by the use of noncooperation and other nonviolent methods, as economic boycotts and protest marches.
Alabama, 1960.Early in the movement, King and his wife Coretta CELEBRATE a victory in Montgomery.
This picture shows how important it was to celebrate every obstacle the African Americans overcame. They took great pride in the obstacles that were not only huge incluences on them and in history, but also the smaller things. Often those smaller events led to something huge and greater than they expected. Martin Luther King Jr.'s victory in Montgomery was won of the largest victories in the Civil Rights movement and will be remembered by not only African Americans, but also Americans everywhere.
Alabama, 1963.After being hit from behind and knocked down by a water hose, a woman is picked up and RESCUED by a fellow demonstrator.
Among its most articulate advocates have been Ghandi who maintained that action needs to be accompanied by love and a willingness to search for the truth, and Martin Luther King, Jr., who called for “tough-mindedness and tenderheartedness.”

This picture has great emphasis on African American community. Whether they knew them or not, blacks would be there to help, support, and to rescue the people in need of help. This picture shows the love they had for eachother also. During this hard time, they learned to stick together and to fight for their freedom together. This picture has a great meaning to me. Just as this man is rescuing this women when she is most vulnerable, Jesus is there to rescue and save us when we have hit rock bottom.
(3.) I believe there is discrimination in our community today. People are being discriminated when they can't get a job because they are men or women or because they don't have enough experience in a certian area. People are also discriminated when they are judged by their social status and the amount of money they make a year; their size of their house and how many cars they have.

Sculpture Walk
Pains of Life
1.) Hurt, Strength, Perserverance, Anger, Grrr!
2.) The detail of this structure is very good and detailed. I think the structure does a great job showing the emotion involved with the struggles in life. In order to conquer any obstacle/pain in life you need to have strength and perserverance, which is shown greatly in this structure.
3.) The one thing i did not like about this structure is the lack of color. I think that the lack of color gives us the feeling of depression when really, looking at this structure, we should be overwhelmed with inspiration. Another thing I did not like about this structure is that the man almost looks very angry at God as if all the struggles and pains in life were because of God.
4.) I don't think I would purchase this sculpture because it is depressing.
5.) Pain, anger, frusturation
B.) Seems angry at God and everyone else in his life
C.) I don't think the sculpture fits the downtown theme.
6.) Very strong frontal presence
B.) Pretty detailed on all sides
C.) Only appealing from the sides and the front
D.) Metal rods
7.) Angular
B.) Simplified but detailed in muscle structure
C.) Texture
D.) Smooth
E.) Very concrete
Soaring Eagle
1.) Awesome, Native American, Symbolic, Sharp, Freedom
2.) The artist intented the sculpture to be cool, which is exactly what he got. I also think that the eagle portrays a part in native american culture.
3.) I don't really see anything that I dislike about this sculpture.
4.) I would definatly purchase this sculpture because it is fierce and just plain awesome!
5.) The postition of the eagle looks as if it has flown down from the tree and is going to fly into the store. The eagle is placed on an extra pedestal so it has the effects of flying over viewers.
6.) It is very interesting from all directions and angles. However, depending on the angle you look at it, it could look as if it was just a bunch of shapes put together until you look closer and see the eagle's face. The nature lighting doesn't have an effect on the scultpure because it is located by a tree where it is shaded most of the time.
Man in Motion
1.) Buda, inderesting, awkward, sweet, mysterious
2.) It has a great 3D effect and the strucure really conveys the title well. I love how the man actually looks like its moving, and I really love the fullness of the structure.
3.) I couldn't really find anything that I didnt like about this structure.
4.) I would definatly purchase this sculpture. It is very interesting and I love how it looks concrete from one angle and abstract from another.
5.) The sculpture keeps the viewer's eye "moving forward" with the motion.
6.) Yes. The structure is concrete from the front but abstract from the sides and the back.
7.) Very rounded, simplified, smooth, and both concrete and abstract
